Questions.

Eightthings people ask before they sign. If yours isn't here, get in touch.

01

What's actually included in each tier?

Each tier is fixed-scope, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

  • Tier 1 (Landing, from RM2,000): one scrolling page, custom design, mobile-friendly, basic SEO, contact form, 2 years hosting included. Delivered in 5 working days. 3 rounds of changes.
  • Tier 2 (Multi-page, from RM3,500): 2 pages base, +RM250 per extra page. Custom design, mobile-friendly, SEO across all pages, 2 years hosting included. Delivered in 7 working days. 5 rounds of changes.
  • Tier 3 (Ecommerce, from RM7,000): product catalog, cart, checkout (guest or with accounts), payment gateway, admin dashboard, 1 year hosting included. Delivered in 15 working days. 5 rounds of changes.

If your project sits between tiers, we'll talk and quote what fits.

02

How does payment work?

50% deposit to start, 50% on launch. Same for all tiers.

Invoices arrive by email. Bank transfer in RM. Receipt emailed.

The price you sign is the price you pay. If scope changes mid-project, the new scope gets its own quote before any work starts.

03

Who owns the code and design when the project is done?

You do. Full ownership of the code, design files, and content transfers to you on final payment.

That means:

  • You can move the site to any hosting provider later.
  • You can hire another developer to modify it.
  • You can use screenshots in your own portfolio or pitch deck.

Sontrix keeps the right to show the project in our portfolio with your permission.

04

What does "hosting included" actually cover?

For the inclusive period (2 years for Tier 1 / 2, 1 year for Tier 3), Sontrix covers:

  • The hosting itself (server costs, traffic).
  • SSL certificate renewals.
  • Uptime monitoring.
  • Critical bug fixes (anything that breaks).
  • Domain renewal workflow (you pay the registrar fee directly, we handle the admin).

What's NOT included (billed separately, even during the inclusive period):

  • Content updates (text changes, image swaps): RM100-150/hr.
  • New pages, features, or design changes: quoted as new scope.
  • Third-party integrations (CRM, analytics, email tools): quoted separately.
  • The domain registration fee itself.

05

What happens after the free hosting period ends?

You'll get an email from us 60 days before the period ends with two options:

  1. Continue with a Care Plan. Same scope as the inclusive period: RM50/mo for Tier 1 / 2, RM100/mo for Tier 3. Indefinite, cancel anytime.
  2. Take the site over yourself. We hand you the code, setup instructions, and a 30-day window for handoff questions. For Tier 3, this is more involved (it needs server-management knowledge), so we strongly recommend the Care Plan instead.

Either way, you keep full ownership. No site disappears just because the free period ended.

06

What is the difference between a "small fix" and a "new request"?

Small fix (covered during hosting period)New request (billed separately)
Site won't load"Can we change the headline?"
Form stops sending emails"Add a testimonial section"
Broken image / 404 link"Add a new product to the shop"
SSL expired and not auto-renewing"Redesign the contact page"

Rough rule: if it's something that worked before and now doesn't, it's a fix. If it's something new (or changes how the site looks or behaves), it's a request.

New requests are charged at RM100-150/hr, with an estimate sent before any work starts. You approve, then we do it.

07

How long does a project really take?

The delivery times above (5 / 7 / 15 working days) start counting from the day we have:

  • Your brand assets (logo, colours, fonts if you have them).
  • Final content (text and images for every page).
  • Signed agreement and deposit.

If any of those land late, the timeline shifts. We don't charge for waiting.

Need it faster? Rush delivery is available: +RM500 (Tier 1), +RM1,000 (Tier 2), +RM2,000 (Tier 3) for compressed turnaround. Quoted in advance.

Most of the time, gathering content takes longer than the building. We can recommend a copywriter if needed.

08

Where is my data stored? (Malaysian PDPA)

For Tier 1 and Tier 2 sites, the site itself runs on US-based infrastructure. Contact form submissions are emailed directly to you, with a short copy held by our email-delivery service for troubleshooting. No customer accounts, no database, so visitor data doesn't sit anywhere long.

For Tier 3 (Ecommerce), customer data (accounts, orders) lives on a Sontrix-managed server in Singapore (same data-protection neighbourhood as Malaysia). Backups are encrypted. You can export or delete your customer data at any time.

If you need a formal Personal Data Protection Act notice for your site (most Malaysian SMB sites do), we'll provide a template you can customise. PDPA registration with the Department of Personal Data Protection is your responsibility. We'll walk you through what's needed.

That covers data your clients submit to your site. For how Sontrix handles the data you submit to this site, see our privacy notice.
